Blend Blasts are a set of phonemic awareness flashcards designed to support students as they transition from CVC words to more complex word structures such as CVCC and CCVC.
 
The resource covers the most common consonant blends a non-rhotic student will encounter and also includes blank sheets, allowing you to add additional blends as needed.
 
The blends are organised into five structured sets based on grapheme formation:
 
Drops
Curves
Twists
Bouncers
Zigs
 
Each set includes both beginning and ending blends.
 
Blend Blasts are intended to be introduced during P2, once students are confident with CVC words, and should be used only with graphemes the child has already mastered.  The cards are designed purely as a phonemic awareness tool, providing practice with blending and segmenting sounds.
