Our core goal is fluency. The Are You Right? eBook series was developed to address key gaps in early reading instruction. As children begin learning each new alphabet grapheme and its corresponding phoneme, they gain access to new VC and CVC words. Yet, there is often a lack of suitable reading material that helps children build fluency with these newly accessible words.​
While building code knowledge is essential, fluency is often left behind. Children are taught the sounds, but not always given the chance to practise reading decodable text in a way that fosters true fluency.

We also saw another challenge: children are frequently asked to make an unrealistic leap - from reading isolated CVC words to reading full sentences embedded within a story. We believe that jump is too steep, too soon.

Stories absolutely have their place, but only when children are ready. First, they need time to build fluency - slowly, steadily, and with the right kind of text at the right moment.​

At Are You Right?, we believe in slowing things down and meeting children exactly where they are. Our books are designed to support step by step progress - from single words, to noun phrases, sentence fragments, and finally, complete decodable sentences. In doing so, we help develop the fluency and confidence children need before moving on to more complex reading tasks, including stories.

We recommend that these eBooks are read in single page view. There are no images beside the text, allowing children to focus purely on decoding and self-monitoring. Once they’ve read the word or sentence, they turn the page to check if they were right - hence the name Are You Right?. Each eBook includes nine pages of decodable text followed by nine illustrated pages.

While the reading pages are intentionally image free, each book includes a set of charming, full colour illustrations set on a family farm - offering a warm, engaging visual reward without interrupting the reading flow.
